Hello, everyone.
This time we’d like to introduce you to a self defense art, “AIKIDO”
AIKIDO is a martial art developed throughout the mid 20th century by a Japanese named Morihei Ueshiba, and now it is being spread to more than 95 countries. Unlike Jyudo or Karate, it’s not aggressive. It is performed by blending with the motion of the attacker and redirecting the force of the attacker rather than opposing it head-on. As the aikido practitioner leads the attacker’s momentum using entering and turning movements, very little physical strength is required. So it can be performed as a lifelong martial art, regardless of gender or age, and a lot of elderly people are joining trainings for healthy exercise or recreation.
It also has a spiritual aspect that may help you to improve your life. Aikido’s ultimate goal is “to attain the realistic state of mind by harmonizing with the natural or universal laws”, which may be realized through trainings.
The AIKIKAI Hombu Dojo is 5minutes walk from Wakamatsu Kawada Station on the Oedo Line, which is just one stop from one of the closest stations to the hotel, Higashi-Shinjuku Station.
